Hello readers and welcome in the Year of the Dragon ! ^_^ Hope you had a blast with your relatives and loved ones. For sure many of you had put on amazing looks on these special occasions, and I'm no exception to that. Hehe! The title on this entry says it all, and hope you guys would like what I am about to share with you. ;)

I had work on NYE, so instead of boring myself with work, I tried to create a smokey eye look that would go with that night's theme. And here's the look that I donned on that very special day, err, night. :p

Smokey Eye with Black and Forest Green eyeshadows, Nude lips, and False eyelashes.

Close up on the eye make up. This was taken 6 hours from the time I applied my makeup, and it was held pretty well, thanks to a great invention called "eye shadow primer". Haha!

I think this is a better shot (or is it? The flash washed off some of the colors. Bummer.)

Sorry, but I was not able to fix my hair to go along with the makeup, because I didn't have my hair tools during that time. :( But I will definitely include that on my future FOTDs and FOTNs.

My skin's best tool: Watsons' Facial Massager

Hello ladies! It's a week before Christmas, and I guess everybody's looking forward to spend time with their loved ones. I wish every one a safe and happy Christmas! ^_^

Recently, I decided to de-clutter my closet, and found out that I have some items that I could use on my already stressed out skin. Sure, I like to go out and get facials and diamond peels, but there are times that I would be too lazy to drag my a** to Dermaline (that's where I usually have my facials and DP sessions) and would rather stay at home. I know, a have a very un-healthy lifestyle, and true enough, it sometimes manifests thru my skin. Thank you to whoever inventedClarisonic (been lusting for it for a few years now), but no thanks to the hefty price tag. I really don't see a need for me to spend over $100 for something that I would only use to wash my face!

And then, I saw this,sitting inside my closet.

It's a facial massager from Watson's. This was a gift given to me by my SIL for my birthday last year.

It comes with the main unit, 4 attachments and an instruction manual. The main unit runs on 2 AA batteries.

What it looks like when taken out of the box.

Massaging Roller. This is used after putting on your moisturizer before you go to sleep. Simply run this all over your face, and feel its relaxing and soothing action.

Cleaning Brush: This is my favorite among all 4 attachments. Say goodbye to manual cleaning. This effectively removes all of my makeup at the end of the day, which only means that I have less chances of developing acne because of makeup. Yey!

It comes with soft bristles that do not irritate the skin at all! On how I use this to wash my face, I simply put a pea size amount of my facial wash onto the brush, switch on the unit, and then I run it all over my face for about 1-2mins. Then I rinse the suds off, leaving no residue behind, only clean, clear skin!

Pumice Stone. Now, this is the attachment that I have NOT used on my face. I use this to soften the callus on my feet after I take a bath.

Sponge Applicator. I used this once to buff out my blush when I put on too much. I find this a bit rough, though, but it did a nice job of buffing the excess color.

The power button is so soft to touch.

The best thing is that, this baby costs less than P500, I think. This may not be as good as the Clarisonic, but it sure does similar things just like a Clarisonic would. So if you don't have a lot of cash to burn, but would like to maintain clear looking skin, then this is definitely worth a try.

One thing that you should remember is that this unit is NON WATERPROOF. So if you would like to use this in the bathroom, make sure that one of your hands is dry. You can wet and rinse your face with just one hand. :)

Careline Lipgloss tubes and palettes from Props

If there's anything that I love the most, it's getting good deals out of my hard earned money. I have always believed that there are quality products that wont create dents on your budget, and makeup is no exception to this statement. So whenever I see something that's worth buying and affordable at the same time, I do not think twice. Call me impulsive, but I guess that's me. :)

Props Tools and Cosmetics. Sometime in September or October of this year, Ensogo sold discounted vouchers for Props Tools and Cosmetics. Props is a brand that's new to me, so when I saw this offer on Ensogo, I bought some vouchers and placed an order for 2 of their palettes. I got The Carnival and The Disco Matte palettes.

Let's start with The Carnival palette. Encased in a matte plastic finish, this is very similar, if not the same, with Dollface's Avant Garde palette. Great for everyday and party looks.

Picture with flash. It looks shimmery, but they are highly pigmented, believe me. I was also surprised!

Picture without flash. This palette comes with 88 eye shadows and each pan is about the size of a ten centavo coin. See the vibrant yellows, reds, oranges, blues and neutrals? I'd call this a year-round, all around palette. :)

Swatches. Yes, they're very pigmented baby!

This is the Disco Palette, matte version. Same matte case, but without the Props logo. I wonder what happened to it? Hmmm.

It comes with 32 eye shadows and 10 cheek colors (mix of blushes and bronzers). This palette is not 100% matte, though. I have spotted a few semi shimmery colors in this palette.

Swatches. Not as pigmented as The Carnival palette, but this can be easily fixed with a good primer.

The blush pans is like the size of a 5 peso coin. They matte ones are pigmented, so a light hand is necessary in applying them, and the shimmery ones are nice when applied over the matte ones.

The pink one is gorgeous.

Careline Lipgloss with Vitamin E. I have read reviews about these babies, about them being good substitutes for lipsticks, and since they're only Php 60 per tube, I decided to get some of them. I have tested the shimmery colors and found them to be too shimmery and gritty, so I settled for the matte shades.

Shade 107 for me is a nude,raisin colored lip gloss, while Shade 101 leans towards the nude-beige-y side. Shade 110 comes in a bold red orange-y tint, while Shade 102 is a fun baby pink color. Shade 110 is a brown colored lip gloss that would go great with a smokey eye look, IMO.

More Human Heart Nature Products

I have been addicted to Human Heart Nature products from the time that I got introduced to the brand 2 years ago until now. I just find their products reasonably priced and effective at the same time. Whenever they would release something new, I always find myself checking out the new products out and buying them just for curiosity's sake.

Sometime last week I purchased a couple of their products. These aren't exactly newly introduced items though. These are products that I have tested and have worked for me, thus the repurchase factor.

Their packaging has greatly improved over the years. Just look their box. Very earthy and elegant looking. Before, the items would get shipped out without a box.

Everything was wrapped in newspaper, and spouts were carefully sealed. I got the following items: Sunflower Cleansing Oil and Anti bacterial Hand and Potty Spray.

The sunflower oil was made from premium cosmetic grade sunflower oil. It also comes with a mild scent, but to those who despises scented facial products, they also have the Sunflower Beauty Oil priced at Php 119.75. The sunflower oil does a good job at removing make up, even waterproof mascara, although it does not emulsify, unlike the cleansing oil from Shu Uemura. And it's really a good deal for Php 350.00. As with the spray sanitizer, it smells fresh, somewhat similar to lemongrass. I'm addicted to its scent and prefers this over the bubble gum scented one. It also does not a sticky feeling afterwards, unlike other hand sanitizers.

That's all for now. I have to do some serious packing for my HK and Macau trip. ^_^

Food Post: BonChon Double Fried Chicken

It's food porn time! While shopping for a new dress for our friend's wedding, we dropped by BonChon chicken and had our lunch there. BonChon is from Korea, and their specialty is of course, fried chicken. They double fry their chicken,thus the skin is super crispy, and their recipes for their sauce match the chicken so much that it's literally yum until the last bite.

So without further ado, let me show you what we have ordered.

French Fries. A bit soggy for something that has been served right away, but still yummy.

Kimchi Coleslaw. This is a perfect with the chicken, tasty and a lil spicy at the same time.

Soy Flavored Chicken. My favorite. Yummy and tasty. 5 stars. Nuff said. Haha!

Hot Wings. Warning, this is not for those whose not fond of chili food, because this one is really spicy.

BonChon has a lot of branches now, but for those based in Makati, there's one in Ayala Triangle and for those who would want to go to Ortigas, SM Megamall and Robinson's Galleria branches are more than happy to satisfy your chicken cravings.

Working at night has its pros and cons. Sure, we get paid premiums for that, but it takes a lot of guts to do it, not to mention that our health deteriorates faster than the rest of us, and that's why we make sure that we take extra care of ourselves by buying extra vitamins,etc. But there are a lot of harmful elements out there that would just not stop making us look ugly in various parts of our body, and our only pair of lips is no exception to this. As someone who despises dry and flaky lips, the search for effective yet affordable lip products goes on.

Enter Human Heart Nature 100% Natural lip balms. I got both regular and tinted variants.

I find the swirly designs on the tube as very chic and girly-ish. Human Heart Nature's packaging has really evolved over the years.

100% Natural Lip Balm in Choco Fudge. Other flavors are available like Tutti Frutti and Peppermint. Ingredients are as follows: Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Beeswax, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter, Caprylic/Capric Trigylceride, Helianthus annus (Sunflower) seed oil, Calendula officinalis (Calendula) extract, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) extract, Tocopherol (+/-): Mentha piperita (Peppermint) essential oil, Menthyl lactate, Organic flavor oil, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa), Zinc oxide (CI 77947), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Iron Oxide (CI 77491)

I got Flame Tree, which is the red one among all 3 shades, but to me it's a mix of red and brown tones. The rest are called Pink Orchid (pink) and Island Kiss (Coral). I will get the rest of the shades, eventually.

A glimpse of Flame Tree, with flash. This is darker in person, thus it's more wearable especially at day time.

Priced at P74.75, I think this is a very good option for those who wants red, luscious and moisturized lips. Hi! Sorry I've been out of circulation again, I got sick for not being able to sleep well during the day because of the weather. It's been excruciatingly hot during the day,and chilly at night. I guess Christmas is really near, which spells traffic because of the non stop midnight sales here and there, and never ending Christmas parties. But don't get me wrong, I love Christmas, because it's the time that I get to spend some time with family members. So there. :)

Today I went out to see my doctor. While waiting for him to arrive, I went out of the clinic to check out the stores nearby to see if there are things that would pique my interest. And yes, I got some stuff. ^_^

Since I've been really sick, a big part of my daily expenses are my meds. Huhuhu.

I dropped by Hortaleza and got myself this Treatment Wax for my long hair(P120), Caronia fast dry top coat(P55, and Caron)ia Kwik Dry and cuticle conditioner(P33).

After Hortaleza, I entered a small shop that sells China-made stuff. I got a pair of short-to-long falsies for only P30, and a very chic bangle for only P160. :D

Hello Ladies! How's your weekend so far? I hope everyone's doing good. Just got home with some stuff that I got from Watson's. I got good deals,woohoo. Watson's a real heaven scent to those who would like to stay beautiful without spending too much. They would normally have discounted products,and some are offered on a BOGO deal. So who wouldn't say no to that? Haha!

Here's what I got:

Playing with Falsies

False lashes play a great part in enhancing our peepers. But putting them on is an art, and it takes a lot of practice. Today I played with the false lashes that I bought from Say Artillero . I must say that they're of good quality, although they're not the best that I've tried. I still like the Natural Lash Kit from ELF, because they're easier to maneuver than these. But the price tag of Php100 (roughly $2.25) for 10 pairs of false lashes is a very good deal, so I wasn't able to resist them. LOL!

And these are the pictures that I took today. No eye make, just the falsies. (Please excuse the crappy quality, my camera is not in the best mood today)

Nice, right? It did a good job in making my eyes look bigger and awake, despite the fact that I have small eyes, being Asian and all. And I seriously need to practice applying them flawlessly, because the glue almost got into my eyes. Haha!

I'm looking forward to try those lashes from KKCENTERHK. I just hope that I'd get an email from them so that I can try their lashes for free (wishful thinking, haha). I'm very interested with the A133 style.

First Impression: Sigma Make Me Blush brush kit

Pictures ahead.. Sorry for my bedsheet, I was in the process of changing it when my package arrived, so I had to set the task aside so that I can get a hold of my new babies. LOL!

It arrived with a slightly squished box.. Seriously Xend, did you not see the FRAGILE sticker on the package? *sigh*

I finally decided to "unearth" my blog after a year of not touching it. LOL! The reason why? Well, I really don't know. Probably I became way too lazy to even update it. Haha.

Makeup brushes (Duo fiber crease, Pro Blending Fluff, Destiny Blender) from Coastal Scents and Faux lashes from Makeup by Say Tioco Artillero

I will be doing a more detailed review on those brushes after I've washed and used them. But I'm most excited about the Pro blending Fluff one, since it looks just like a MAC 217! I just hope that it wouldn't disappoint me. The Destiny Blender looks like a MAC 226, just a tad bigger. And the Duo Fiber Crease is a very interesting brush to have,since the idea of using duo fiber brushes on my eyes is new to me. We'll see about that after I have used the brushes.

So there. I'm sorry for being absent for a very long time, but I hope to keep up with this as often as I could.

Product Review: SkinHour Revitaleyes Eyebalm

Hello! I have been out of circulation lately because I have been soooo busy with work and with my lil boy. O_o Anyway, here's a product review for you, it's for SkinHour's Revitaleyes. I have mentioned in one of my entries here that I have been into organic products lately, mainly because I got preggers, but after I gave birth I decided to continue the organic saga because of the wonderful benefits organic products offered. I came across SkinHour's website and saw this, and since I did not have an eye cream of some sort, I decided to give this a try.

What it says on the website:

An unscented eye balm applied under the eye during the night to diminish puffiness, firm skin and reduce lines. It also lightens dark circles and moisturizes the most sensitive area of the eye.

Ingredients:
organic beeswax, sweet almond oil, apricot seed oil, coconut stearate, collagen, vitamin k, calendula extract, vitamin e, grapefruit extract and orris root extract

What I honestly think about it:

It looks and smells like Sebo de Macho. But it does not bother me at all.
The pot was filled to the brim when I got it. You get maximum value for your money.
I find it quite unhygienic dipping my fingers into the pot to get some product out, but to solve that, just make sure that you have clean fingers before you use this.
The product actually works! I have been using it for 3 weeks now, and I have noticed that my under eye area is moisturized and puffiness is nowhere to be found now.
For only Php100, it is well worth the money you paid for it.
Will I repurchase? I definitely would.

Goodbye AL.... =(

Aromaleigh, or AL for short, has been making women beautiful through its makeup line for the past 12 years. It has been a long and winding journey for the company, and I'm sure the people behind Aromaleigh have enjoyed this and have reaped the fruits of their hard labor.

Unfortunately, every journey needs to come to an end, and the time has come for AL to bid farewell to its loyal customers. Rumors have circulated thru the Net, which forced Kristen, the owner, to finally close AL's doors. We may never know the real reason behind AL closing down, but Im certain that this MMU (mineral makeup) line will be missed by many.

If there's a cartoon character that I absolutely adore, that would be Hello Kitty. Weird though, because Im not fond of cats,but this cutie is an exception. :D

Last year, MAC had a collection featuring Hello Kitty. This time, it's Maybelline's turn, although we're just talking about one product here. This adorable limited edition Hello Kitty mascara comes in the same formula that the regular Volum' Express Cat Eyes mascara does, so if you're a fan of this mascara, then there's no reason for you not to get this one. After all, it's limited edition (I'm such an enabler). :D

Review: NYX Round Lipsticks

Finally, I was able to get my grubby hands on some NYX round lipsticks. I immediately grabbed the chance to purchase when sis Sol of digitaltraincase announced via her blog that she has some NYX items for sale. I've heard so many good things about these babies, and being the "inggitera" that I am (LOL), I decided to give them a try as well.

I got three lippies: Indian Pink, B52, and Thalia.

What I like about it:

Very creamy texture. I actually dropped Indian Pink and created a small mess on our floor,and when I scooped it up with my finger, I was welcomed with,well, a very creamy mess.But of course, upon application, I also felt the creamy texture that comes with every swipe.
Pigmentation is very,very good. I am very delighted with the fact that with every swipe that I make,it makes the colors even more vibrant and lively.
It glides smoothly across my lips,even without lip balm underneath.
For Php 160, you cant go wrong with it.
Wide selection of colors available thru their website.

What I dont like about it:

These babies are rare gems; Generally,they are not available locally. You cant find these in our malls. I was only lucky when I saw that announcement from Sol's blog.
Lasting power is just so-so. But again, with the price that you pay for it, I guess that's okay.

Will I repurchase? YES,YES,YES!

I am very much anxious to try out other colors! But I guess it'll have to wait for now,since I have my baby's baptism coming up in a month's time, and finances will be a bit tight for me since I'm still on maternity leave.

Review: By Nature Handmade Soaps

Hi! I'm currently on maternity leave,waiting for the arrival of my lil bundle of joy. Im expected to give birth soon, and once that happens, I'll let you guys know. :D

I have to tell you that my pregnancy taught me a lot of things, and one of them is using organic products. Lately I have been on an organic products splurge, and one of the organic brands that I'm currently addicted to is By Nature Handmade soaps. The soaps are very skin friendly, and is reasonably priced since the bars are kinda large, they would last you a long time, provided that you follow the instructions given.

I made my purchases thru Ebay and Dianne's site. I ordered Olive Beauty, Cocoa Butter Melt, MilkenHoney, and Icy Choco. Descriptions are from the official By Nature website, but I have added a few things just to let you know on what I personally think about them.

Olive Beauty - Using this castile soap everyday will keep your skin soft and supple. Olive oil is known to nourish the skin and help it retain its moisture. It also provides protection for all skin types, especially for dry and sensitive skin. This olive oil-enriched bar is so mild that it is safe to use even on infants. Price: P155.00 for a 120-150g bar

What I think about it: This is a very good soap for those who have uber dry skin. It kept my skin moisturized, but still it wasn't enough for my uber uber dry skin. I guess being pregnant made my skin very dry,and with the kind of weather that we have right now, having dry, dehydrated skin can't be avoided. But for those who just wants extra moisture, this is the right bar for you.

Milkenhoney - The perfect soap for those who love anything with milk and honey. The milk makes your skin feel extra soft and supple after every wash, while the honey acts as a natural moisturizer and antibacterial. Price: P95.00/120-150g bar

What I think about it: I love this soap. It cleanses very well without leaving any icky residue behind, and moisturizes at the same time. I use this on my face twice a day for about 2 weeks now, and I havent experienced any nasty breakouts with this soap. Highly recommended.

Icy Choco - For chocolate-mint lovers, enjoy bathing with the stimulating scent of peppermint and the mild exfoliation of cocoa powder. This delicious-looking soap will leave your skin feeling cool and refreshed all over. It also gives out a wonderful lather which is simply a bonus for you! Price: P95.00/120-150g bar

What I think about it: LOVE! This is my favorite among all the bars that I have purchased. The minty feeling is perfect for the scorching hot weather that we have right now, and the scent leaves me and my bathroom smelling good. Even hubby likes it.

Cocoa Butter Melt - Your skin will get all the pampering it needs from the cocoa butter in this soap, with soothing and emollient qualities that will leave your skin all soft and moisturized. Price: P95.00/120-150g bar

What I think about it: I was surprised when I saw that this bar had very small grains in it, since it wasnt a part of the description. But that did not make this a bad soap; Surprisingly, I like this better than Olive Beauty because I just think that my skin loved this soap more than the latter. But it's just my opinion.

Overall, I'm happy with BNHS soaps. Caring for your skin has never been this good. I will definitely repurchase once I've run out of them.

The Battle Against Stretch marks

Being pregnant brings out the best in a woman. It also causes a lot of changes within a woman's body, and one thing that's dreaded during the second and third trimester is the development of stretchmarks. What are stretch marks? Read on to find out.

From Wikipedia:

Stretch marks, or striae, are a form of scarring on the skin with an off-color hue. They are caused by tearing of the dermis, and over time can diminish but not disappear completely.

They first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter range. The affected areas appear empty and are soft to the touch.^[2]

Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. No stretch marks will form as long as there is support within the dermis. Stretching plays more of a role in where the marks occur and in what direction they run. Stretching alone is not the cause.^[3]

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored. Most common places are the abdomen (especially near the belly-button), breasts, upper arms, underarms, thighs (both inner and outer), hips, and buttocks. They pose no health risk in and of themselves, and do not compromise the body's ability to function normally and repair itself.^[4]

Unfortunately,for some women, developing stretch marks during pregnancy is unavoidable. This makes a woman feel insecure about herself. I am also a part of the unfortunate ones who developed stretch marks at an early stage. Lucky for me, I have internet access which allows me to surf and look for possible solutions to this dreaded skin condition. And here is what I found out so far:

One of the simplest, yet effective home remedies for stretch marks would be to apply lavender oil on the marks, three times a day.
Another home remedy would be to apply Aloe Vera gel on the marks. They would initially, lighten and finally, remove the marks from the body.
Prepare a mixture by adding seven drops of lavender oil and a few drops of chamomile oil to an ounce of carrier oil (avocado, sweet almond or jojoba oil). Use it to massage the affected area.
Includes lots of green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, liver and dairy products in your diet.
Consume seeds and nuts that contain zinc. They will prove effective in removing stretch marks.
In a blender, mix ½ cup olive oil, ¼ cup Aloe vera gel, liquid from 6 Vitamin E capsules and liquid from 4 Vitamin A capsules. Store it in a container and place it in the refrigerator. Apply this mixture wherever stretch marks appear.
Aroma oil is beneficial in treating stretch marks problem. Apply some of this oil on the stretch marks and massage well.
Rub the affected area with apricot scrub. This is likely to remove the stretch marks gradually.
Cocoa butter is beneficial in treating stretch marks. Apply it two times a day, in the morning as well as in the evening, over the affected area. This would help remove the marks.

I also browsed thru an online store called Storeeland, and found out that they sell pure rosehip and emu oils which may also help in lightening/fading stretchmarks.

Rosehip oil is relatively unknown in the UK but already word is spreading as people discover its impressive skincare benefits.

Pure Rosehip oil contains natural tretinoin, a derivative of Vitamin A, and is proven to delay the effects of skin aging. It aids cell regeneration and boosts levels of collagen and elastin to create smoother, firmer skin.
Rosehip oil can also be used to strengthen weak fingernails and thin or damaged hair. It has proved useful in reducing and elimating the effects of:

Scarring
Stretch marks
Effects of psoriasis
Effects of eczema
Lumps from scarring
Hyper-pigmentation
Dermatitis
Over-exposure to the sun
Fine lines and wrinkles
Skin burns

Ive been MIA... and some big news

The title says it all... I missed blogging, but then, work is just getting crazy nowadays, so there.

I am also into Facebook. Yep, Im addicted to Restaurant City and Cafe World. :p

Anyway, for the biggest news of the year: I am close to 2 months pregnant. But lucky me because I dont have those weird morning sickness moments and late night cravings. Well, it's too early to tell. I'm gonna have another check up with my OB gyne on Saturday. I hope there's nothing wrong and that my baby is fine. :)

The idea of being a mother excites and scares me at the same time. Honestly, I had my mind set that I wont have a kid until the age of 30 (boo!) but then, this blessing came along, and although I may not have been prepared for it, I will make sure that this kid gets all the love that I could offer to him/her.

Marriage? We decided not to get married.... yet. I have to focus on being a mother first, before I can be a wife to him. The parents respected our decision, which is a very good thing, because we need all the moral support that we could get at this point.

So there. I'll do my haul posts in a while, but for now, let us welcome the latest addition to my addiction... my baby. =)

I am very,very disappointed with ELF. Just when I was about to place my orders with them, the coupon for the 75% discount stopped working. I started adding items in my cart,and the max discount that it gives me is $10.00 (WTF?!). And when I emailed them, this is what they told me:

Howdy! I just wanna shed some light on some gray areas and make some revisions on the pool instructions as well. I want each and every participant of this pool to be happy about their purchases by maximing every discount possible. But lemme stress out a very important guideline before I even state the changes that will be made.

Only 1 discount coupon maybe used per cart. Therefore, if I receive orders from all 3 lines, then I have to create 3 separate carts and pay for 3 amounts for shipping. This only means that if you're purchasing different items from all 3 lines of ELF, then the ELF shipping fee that will be paid will be computed based on the number of participants for each line.

Please see the example listed below. Just a reminder, these numbers, specifically the number of participants listed,are fictional at this point and are placed in this illustration for discussion purposes only. The final numbers are to be determined once I have the final lists.

Studio line - 10 participants
Mineral Lipstick - 3 participants
Regular and MMU line - 5 participants

Some ELF products that Im dying to try out..

ELF Pencil Sharpeners - I just find it cute that they include two sharpeners in one package, and there's a little lever so the pencils could fit right into the sharpener.. Very innovative.

ELF Studio Line Make Up Removing Cloths - I think this would work better than baby wipes. But the question is, could it also remove stubborn mascara? Hmmm.

ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer - I have read in various blogs that this is ALMOST comparable to Urban Decay's Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I'll have to see if the reviews are accurate.

ELF All Over Color Stick in Golden Peach - I think this would work as a sticky base for bronzey or gold e/s, to make the colors even more vibrant.

ELF Duo Eye Shadow Cream in Sugar Cookie - I hope that the website is showing these colors right. I would love to have this replace or be a backup for my Butter Pecan e/s cream.

ELF Studio Line Corrective concealer - this mini palette with 4 concealers is every MMU wannabe's dream. It practically has everything to conceal red marks,scars, uneven skin tone, etc.

ELF Studio Line Kabuki Brush - I'm excited about this. A kabuki brush for $5 is a steal, and since this was made from the same synthetic takklon that was used on all studio line brushes, this definitely goes into my list.

ELF Studio Blush Brush - If I'm gonna compare this with a MAC brush, it'll be the MAC 116 Blush Brush. I think this brush will be a great brush too. This tops my list.

Hi! I haven't been feeling well lately, so I'll just post the items that I got last week. I hope this crazy weather dies down soon, because it doesn't do me any good, even after getting a flu shot. Sheesh.

More Cyleina soaps. Got a tomato bar, rice bran bar, strawberry bar, honey oatmeal bar, and batangas coffee bar. I love these organic soaps. I tried honey oatmeal the other day, and it smells yummy and leaves my skin soft and smooth at the same time.

The seller gave me samples of the PGM (papaya-goat milk) variant. I have heard so many good things about it that's why I'm happy that she gave theseas freebies.

Being the ELF addict that I am, I got another duo eyeshadow creme, this time in butter pecan. I have it in mocha swirl, and I love the way it makes my eyeshadow colors "pop" when I apply this before my powder eyeshadow.

The light color is good as a base for neutral colors, while the brown shimmery color is good as a base for smokey eye looks. I literally tucked away my mocha swirl to give way to this new baby. But don't worry, I'll find a use for it soon.

Make Up Tools while on a budget

Spend or Save? This is the question that will never get a straight answer, simply because we all have different ways on how we spend our money. And honestly, the answers solely depends on what item you're planning to get. For me, it is okay to splurge, as long as the item is worth every buck that you're gonna throw for it. And when I say the words worth it, it means a lot of things, like the purpose, convenience, versatility, etc. But a less complicated way of defining it is, if it meets your expectations, then it's definitely worth it.

However, with the way things are going with our economy, not everyone will have the money to throw on something extravagant. There will be times that we would have to be wise with our purchases. It's not that we want to turn into cheapskates, but it's more of being practical and getting value for our money. Confused? Lemme show you what I mean.

MAKE UP BRUSHES. ELF (eyeslipsface) has been a hot topic on GT because of their really cheap products, especially their brushes. They came up with 2 versions of their brushes: The regular line, and the studio line. Their regular line costs $1 a piece, while Studio line retails for $3 each. I had the regular line face brushes before, the Total Face Brush and the Bronzing Brush, and I can tell you right now that they're not worth your $1 due to its hard, scratchy hair and wiggly handles. On the other hand, the $3 studio line brushes are to die for. They're soft, durable, and they deliver good results too. So, on this example, would you rather SAVE or SPEND? What do you think?

The eye brushes, however, comes with a totally opposite story. The $1 eye brushes (e/s brush,blending brush, and defining eye brush) are the "saviors" of ELF's regular line. They're soft, they do the job, and to top it all, they're cheap. While ELF's studio line e/s C brush is okay for an eyeshadow brush, still it doesnt give me that WOW impression, unlike the regular $1 eyeshadow brush. The blending eye brush is dense enough to blend e/s colors very well. The defining eye brush is good for putting on colors on the outer V, while blending it up the crease. So, with that being said, would you SPEND or SAVE?

I have attached pictures of the brushes that I have mentioned. By the way, my apologies for posting pics of dirty brushes. ^_^

Review: Maybelline Volum' Express Cat Eyes Waterproof Mascara

I was strolling around SM Makati last Sunday when I suddenly realized that I had to get a new mascara since my Avon SuperFULL waterproof mascara died on me sometime last week. I still have my CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara, but Im starting to dislike it because of three reasons: First, since it's not waterproof, it smears since I get teary eyed when Im really sleepy. The second reason is when I apply it, weighs down my lashes after I curl them. And third, I can't get to my lower lashes without smudges due to its huge brush. So I browsed thru the counters one by one, and the SA at Maybelline recommended this to me:

I think I've read reviews about this on another GTalker's blog. I opened the tester's tube and was pleased with what I saw. Upon hearing from the SA that this is their best seller, I got it and paid for it immediately. If you look at it closely (sorry, my camera didn't get the pic right), the bristles resemble those of a comb's bristles. For those who haven't used a comb on their lashes, lemme inform you that these types of bristles have the ability to take out the clumps after putting on mascara. I think it's a good idea to put it on a mascara's wand to save on time and effort, especially when you're in a hurry.

After curling my lashes with my ELF eyelash curler, I tried it on, and these are the results: my lashes weren't weighed down since there was no clumping, and I was able to do my lower lashes too with no smudges. Plus, this is made of waterproof materials, so I don't have to worry about any smudges when I get teary-eyed.

For P429.00, this is definitely a steal. So to those who are still looking for an ideal mascara to suit their personal preferences, this is the product to try out. Maybelline is available at almost all department stores and Watson's outlets.

How to manage stress and more Cyleina Soaps

Stress drains energy at a critical level, but to keep it up you must keep focused on things you like the most. For me, my work may be very demanding, but it keeps me busy and it takes my mind off things that makes me feel depressed or sad. Another hobby is online shopping. IMO, finding great bargains over the Internet is like opening a treasure chest. You may not know what's in store for you, but the feeling of excitement is so overwhelming that every bargain is like gold discovered in an open field. :) So to keep me busy, I shopped around for more Cyleina soaps. Here is my most recent haul.

Giving in to the Cyleina Craze..

After a giving it a lot of thought, I finally decided to join the bandwagon and be a part of the Cyleina Soap circle of users (LOL). Actually, I have wanted to try their soaps for the longest time, but it was only last Monday that I finally realized that I won't satisfy my curiosity until I give it a shot. So I ordered them thru Ebay and got them today. And boy, I am so happy with my purchase.

Here's my Cyleina loot. I got 6 soaps, 3 for me and the other 3 for my friend. I got the black pearl, tomato, and strawberry soaps, while she opted for black pearl, lavender, and kojic soaps.

Here are some things that I have noticed about the soaps:

The packaging is not good, but it's not that bad either. I guess the manufacturer (or proprietor) is trying to save up on costs to make the soaps more affordable.
For P60 a piece, the soaps are big, except for the black pearl, which is at 45g, I think. Really budget friendly.
The scents of the soaps aren't that strong. For me that's an advantage because I am not really a fan of fancy-scented soaps, except if they're made for aromatherapy purposes.

And here are my thoughts on the soaps on an individual basis:

Tomato Soap. It's a red orange soap. I used it on my face. GT gals says that it's good for drying up zits and tightening pores. When I tried it, I noticed a slight stinging sensation, but it's tolerable. I have an emerging zit, and after using it and sleeping for 8 hours, the zit has almost dried up. As for the tightening factor, that I have to wait if that would really happen.

Strawberry Soap. It's a pink soap with strawberry poppy seeds sprinkled on it. It is supposed to exfoliate the skin (which it did), and whiten it at the same time. Well, of course, at this time I can't tell yet if there's a whitening effect. I guess I'll also have to wait on that.

Black Pearl Soap. It's a round, black soap infused with collagen, arbutin, licorice, and vitamin E. I love the fact that it leaves a minty feeling after I used it, makes me drift off to sleep faster and makes me feel good all over. I love this soap. I just hope that I bought more because it is so tiny compared to the rest of the soaps that I bought.

So there you have it. Overall, I am pleased with my haul and will definitely repurchase once my stock runs out. I went to SM Megamall yesterday to watch StarTrek with some of my friends, and I just donned an all natural look. (Please excuse the gigantic zit on my nose.. It looks yucky, I know.)

I'll be posting a review on Himalaya Herbal Products. I have mixed feelings on their products, simply because I think they're the culprit of my breakouts. Once I get hold of the pics, I'll be putting in writing on what I think about them.

My Lumiere Prebuy Brushes have Arrived!

Finally, after more than 2 months of waiting, the brushes that I bought from the Lumiere prebuy period have finally arrived! Yey! I pooled orders with 6 other gals from GT, and I am VERY, VERY happy with the brushes that I got. Since they're made from synthetic bristles, they are really soft and 100% cruelty free. I hope that they launch another prebuy season soon, Im in love with the brushes.

The package was delivered right at my doorstep by Mr. Nice Pasig P.O. Guy, which means, no P35 P.O. fee. Yey!

Went to the dentist last Wednesday and when I was done with my semi-annual checkup, I decided to pay the department store a small visit so that I could get more make up goodies.

ELF New and Improved Eyelash curler, ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Pink Lemonade, Nichido Stick Concealer in Ivory, Nichido single e/s in Gold Frost (reminds me of NYX Cream Cheese), IWhite Pore cleanser, and Carefree Breathable Panty Liners.

Overall, Im satisfied with my purchase. Gold Frost is now my staple browbone highlight color, and the ELF eyelash curler simply went above and beyond my expectations. Im looking forward to more ELF purchases, but I have to limit myself since Im saving up for my Palawan getaway.

Review: Vanilla and Co. Products

I was inspired by Sis Soapaholic's post, that's why I decided to order some stuff from Vanilla & Co. so that I can also put them into test and see what tha raves are all about. I got intrigued by the fact that all of their products are amazingly affordable, and being the cheapskate that I am, I thought that it'll be a good opportunity to try something that's Pinay made and affordable at the same time, so I finally decided to jump into the bandwagon.

I got the following items:

Dessert in a Bottle in Buttercream Caramel, Moisturizing Hair and Body mist in Chocolate and Hazelnut, Whipped Buttercream Scrub in Strawberry cheesecake, and 3 min Vitamin E Hair mask in Mint Choclat

3 Minute Vitamin E Hair Mask in Mint Choclat - consistency is liquid-y. I used a spatula to get the product out of the jar. It made my hair really soft and shiny, and the scent stays on for a short span of time. I kinda like this product. Id give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Whipped Buttercream Scrub in Strawberry Cheesecake - I love, love, love this product! It did a very good job of exfoliating my skin without drying and leaving it silky smooth at the same time. Plus, it smells so good and the scent lingers even after rinsing the product off. I'd give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Moisturizing Hair and Body mist in Chocolate and Hazelnut and Dessert in a bottle in Buttercream Caramel - the scents for both products are absolutely delicious, so delicious that you can't help but sniff yourself all over again. I really don't buy the moisturizing part of the hair and body mist that much but I really don't mind since it's the scent that I'm after for. As with the buttercream caramel lotion, the moisturizing part is okay, although I'm curious to try out the whipped buttercream body butters and the 50% cocoa butter and see if it does a better job on hydrating my uber dry skin. The scent of this product is yummy too. Overall, I'd give both products a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Overall, all products went beyond my expectations, and I'm planning to buy more products from them because of the feedbacks that I have read about them.

The MAC 188 Duo Fiber Stippling brush

I use this to apply my blush and illuminating powder to give that airbrushed, natural look.

It was given to me as a gift (pasalubong) by my bestfriend who came home from Dubai, UAE.

This baby is way cheaper than the MAC 187, but of the same quality as with the 187 since it's a full sized brush.

The problem is, now, I can't stop lemming for a MAC 187.

Yesterday's FOTD + French tipped Nails

Happy Easter everyone! I missed blogging over the week because Im so swamped with work. Huhuhu, Anyway, I got my nails done and had a simple french tip, but instead of using white, I used Caronia's Nail Polish in Platinum, and Im liking it so far.

I went out with my sister, and I thought I'd do a look that's simple yet classy. For this look, I used my new MAC 188 brush (pics to follow) to apply blush and glows on my cheeks. I love the way it distributes the colors to my cheeks. I got it as a gift from my bestfriend who works in Dubai, UAE.

I am also loving Aromaleigh's Elemental Luster in Spark. It has a very nice shine to it, but then it still blends easily with the Coastal Scents neutral eyeshadow colors that I have combined it with, and it still looks proper even for daywear. I am planning to get more shades from this line, along with some more colors from the Gothic Lolita Eye Collection.

For this look, I used the following products:

I tried on the ELF eyeshadow creme over my Artdeco e/s base (primer), before applying my powder eyeshadow. It makes the color more vibrant, and it didnt crease even after 10 hours of wearing it. Love it. I'll purchase the other shade which is Butter Pecan, because I think it'll be good under my gold and bronze eyeshadows. I think the primer is the secret. =)

Daily Office Makeup

Hello readers! It's been a very stressful week and Im so happy that it's weekend once more! yey! Anyway, I thought Id just show you on what make up brands that I use on a daily basis. I work night shifts, but still I would put on make up like how a normal office girl would do it.

This is the look:

I really cannot remember the foundation shade that I used in here, it might have been my Pure Anada Mineral foundation in Yukon Gold Rush. For the finishing powder, hmm, I think it was the Milan Minerals Oil at Bay sample that I got from a fellow GTalker. Now, I really wanna concentrate on the eyes for this blog entry, so Im gonna show you the palette that I use on a daily basis:

(from top to bottom, L-R: Dusk, Pink Ice, Mocha, Moondust)

I use Pink Ice as the base lid color, followed by Moondust on the outer V up to crease, then I blend it in with Mocha and Dusk. Then I use on some ELF Clear Mascara on my lashes before curling them so that the lashes would stay curled for a longer period of time (saw this tip on Enkore's tutorial video).

On my cheeks I used ELF's radiance blusher in Glow, and when I do have the extra time, I use ELF's Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sun Kissed along with an angled blush brush to contour my cheeks.

On my lips I have ELF's Therapeutic Lip Balm in Strawberry Creme topped by ELF's Super Shine Lip Gloss with SPF15 in Pink Kiss.

1. I'm a Brandon Routh fanatic. Some say that he's gay, but I really don't care. For me, he's one of the sexiest men ever born.

Before it was Divisoria, but I find it harassing to go there due to my uber busy schedule and the price differences arent that much anyway.

3. I love Uncle Sam's maki from Tempura Japanese resto. I can eat several platters of it in a day.

4. I had my first kiss on the lips (smack) when I was 12 years old.

5. One of the daring things that I've done during my wild childhood days was when I sneaked out of our house just to see my boyfriend who studies in Don Bosco Mandaluyong.

6. There was a time when I juggled 2 boyfriends at the same time. Bad girl! =( But gone are those days. Teehee.

7. I never get tired of listening to Daughtry's "Over You" song. Reminds me of the pain that I have gone through and how I managed to pick up the pieces and go on with my life.

8. I'm addicted to online shopping. On those days when I can't go out to shop for clothes, I go to Ebay or Multiply to find bargains.

9. I drink L-cysteine and Vitamin C as maintenance for my skin.

10. I am inlove (daw). Dunno. No comment. Hahaha.

Hey guys. Im so sorry for not being able to put anything into my blog for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I have been really busy with work and planning a party along with my MTC friends. The party is set on the 14th, and for that event I wanna do a gold-bronzey look since the theme of the party is white. I just thought that gold and bronze really goes well with white. Im going to the mall tomorrow so that I could shop on some eyeshadows and experiment with looks throughout the week so that when the big day comes I know what look to go for.

Spending V-day at the PIHABF at Clark, Pampanga

We only got a glimpse of the hot air balloons because we arrived late, thanks to traffic. Argh. But then, it was still a very very nice day for all 3 of us who went there.

We had lunch and decided to try out Aling Lucing's Famous Pork Sisig. This was paired with some slices of liempo. Yum.. And the evidence of our pig-out is right before your eyes.

We saw children playing inside balls that are floating over a giant pool.. I wanted to try this, but Im not sure if I'll be able to fit inside the darn balloon. Hehehe

And one thing that I wont forget about this day is the fact that this is the first time that I received a rose on V-day. And I know what you're thinking at this point. It is NOT from my special someone, it's from a very good friend. ;-)

Strip It goes beyond waxing...

Strip It Cold Wax has been my HG when it comes to epilation. After finding out the horrendous effects of shaving, I decided to convert into waxing. At first, I was very hesitant about it since I have heard comments on it being a pain magnet, but when I tried it myself, it wasnt that bad, and plus you get the benefits of waxing at a very cheaper price.. Yes, I admit that Im vain, but Im a real cheapo at the the same time. Hehehe

So when I ran out of cold wax, I immediately got into the web to order. But lo and behold, I noticed that there some items added on to Strip It's website. Arlette added on a body scrub product called Scrub It, and she also had some hand sanitizers on sale which smelled like VS' Pear Glaze. So without blinking an eye, I decided to order the big tub of wax, an additional pack of waxing strips, a big jar of Scrub It in Citrus scent, and the hand sanitizer (which is a steal at Php 100.00 for 3 bottles.)

I got the body scrub at a lower price since I purchased a lot of items. Arlette gave me a discount and being the cheapo that I am, I took advantage of it. Hehehe. IMO, the body scrub was great; The scrub had an ample amount of apricot kernels in it so that it exfoliates well and keep skin baby soft and smooth. The scent wasnt that overpowering, and of course, it didnt come with a hefty price tag. My only grip was the packaging, the jar that it came with didnt have a label to it. Overall, Id give it 4.7 out of 5 stars. =)

As for the hand sanitizer, Id give it a perfect 5. It did a good job on sanitizing without a drying nor sticky effect. It came in a pump bottle which made dispensing easier, and again, 3 bottles for P100.00 is a very, very good deal. So take this opportunity while it's hot. ;-)

Next on my list would be Vanilla and Co. and Skin Hour Organics. Please do watch out my reviews on those. ^_^

Whatta week it had been! I got sick and almost got confined because of my refusal to stay at home to get some rest. Howell, if I ain't stubborn, then it's definitely not me! Teehee! Baguio Flower Festival (Panagbenga) 2009 launched

The Baguio Flower Festival ‘Panagbenga’ 2009 shall be a “big event, and to be done on a grand scale,” as to participation, activities and audience, as promised by Baguio Country Club’s Anthony de Leon during the simple launching ceremonies of the Baguio Flower Festival last Monday, Oct. 13.

De Leon is the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. (BFFFI) Executive Chairman, tasked to manage the affairs of Panagbenga 2009.

With him were Congressman Mauricio Domogan and Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr., who both promised “substantial support” for the activities.

The mayor emphasized that the event is “community-led and government-supported.” Members of the Baguio Centennial Committee (BCC) were also present to affirm their full support to the flower festival centenary version. Frequent coordination meetings were scheduled between the two bodies for activities to complement each other, BCC chairperson Virgilio Bautista said.

With the theme, “Our Festival…Yours Too!” the 14th version of Panagbenga shall have its grand opening on February 1, the Market Encounter from Feb. 1 to March 8, the Fluvial Parade on Valentines day, “Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom,” on Feb. 22, Abanao Nights from Feb. 26-28 and the most awaited Grand Street Parade along Session road on Feb. 28. The float parade will be on March 1, at the same venue.

Right after the street and float parades, Session road shall be cleared for the “Session Road in Bloom,” from March 2-March 8 where floral-themed accessories are sold and flower-inspired activities done within the area. Promenaders and café-goers shall also be allowed in the area.

On March 7, Baguio Pony Boys and fun riders shall have their day of exhibition rides, games and activities on horseback. Known as “Gymkhana,” the event is reminiscent of oldenBaguio days when horse afficionados would come together and prove their mettle on horse games. Horses then were the primary mode of transportation to and from the agricultural and mining areas.

Closing ceremonies shall be on March 8, de Leon said.

The extra week Innovations to the activities abound, de Leon added, including string quartet and ballet performances during the fluvial parade, usually done at the Burnham Park Lake. Additional activities are being awaited.

Activities are bigger due to the flower festival’s joint celebration with the centenary, de Leon clarified.

As to sponsored events, de Leon said that there shall be no sponsor dominance, nor commercialization for the festival.

Congressman Domogan also emphasized that the flower festival is meant to be a thanksgiving event, for the promotion of unity and to sustain the tourism industry in the city.

The congressman downplayed expectations of a house bill approval, a move to regulate festivals in the country due to the presently-felt economic crisis.

14th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) 2009

CLARK FREEPORT — At least 21 balloons from 14 countries are set to fly Clark skies in the upcoming 12th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) to be held from February 7-10 at the ADAC of the Philippine Air Force here.

Clark Development Corporation (CDC) president Liberato Laus said this year’s 12th PIHBF is a highlight of the “Clarksiyahan” — a “packet of activities” to be held from February 8-10 at the CDC Parade Grounds.

Clarksiyahan, Laus furthered, would also feature a drag race, quiz bee, inter-school street dancing, PEP squad competition, locators’ product selling, bikini open, and the Johnny Walker rave party and fashion show.

Joi Roa, president of Air Ads and committee chairman of the PIHBF, said of the 21 balloons, 19 are flown by foreign pilots from 13 countries while the other two are flown by Filipino pilots.

Roa assured spectators that this year’s event would be highlighted by new and colorful balloons which include two novelty balloons — an octopus from Japan and a tiger from Germany.

The pilots participating in the event come from the Philippines, Sweden, the United States, Hungary, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Finland, Japan, Switzerland, England, and South Korea.

Also, the event would feature four paragliders, three from Malaysia and one from France, who are flying thrice daily for the whole duration of the event, Roa said.

Aside from the paragliders, Roa said planes and a chopper from Kuala Lumpur and Thailand would be flown into the country to participate in the four-day event.

Other new highlights of this year’s PIHBF are carnival rides and ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) where spectators would have the chance to ride an ATV in a dirt area that would also serve as an exhibit venue.

Laus said the 12th PIHBF is expected to outdo last year’s event, which hoarded more than 100,000 spectators.

He added that reports reaching his office revealed that last year’s balloon fiesta has doubled by more than 100 percent based on the more than 100,000 gate receipts collected by event organizers. (RGN)

Hi! I havent been able to post anything lately since Im too swamped with work. I had been assigned to work on some priority one issues and those little issues take a whole lot of my time. Anyway, now that I'm back, just wanna share you images of my recent purchases. Well, it hasnt been that many for the past two weeks, but over the weekend I'll be posting more pics since most of my items are gonna arrive either Friday or Saturday.

I got a manicure and had Caronia's A Touch of Tan all over my nails. Since Im all out for the neutral look, if I can do it on my face, might as well do the same thing on my nails. =)

My bestfriend got me 4 Nichido Girls' Night Out Eye Pencils, and those are Bronze Glow, 24K, Smoke Green, and Cool Blue. Stupid lil ol me forgot to do some darn swatches again. But these are really pretty. Long lasting, and great for smudging too. Howell, I'll just update you guys once I have them posted.

And the best part? Here is the PINK cutlery holder that I got from a plastics retail store at EDSA Central. This concept was courtesy of Sis Aika, and I do wanna thank her for that. =) This way of storing my brushes will protect my them from being dust magnets. Anything that you put or use on your face MUST be spotless clean, otherwise you'll be saying hello to what we call ACNE. (Sorry bout my brushes, they're kinda dirty, I havent washed them yet when I took this picture.)

Happy Mail Day... on a Sunday!

Sundays are normally a drag for me, because aside from the fact that there's nothing much going on nowadays, I also have to do my laundry on that day as well. Since I was so darn tired from my shift last night, I decided to just call the laundry pick up service in our area to do the washing for me. So I went all through my stuff and counted them before handing it over to the laundry woman. I lied down on my bed and started my sleeping melody when suddenly, someone knocked on my door. It was my maid, handing me over an envelope. I thought it was weird. Mail on a Sunday? My then sleepy looking eyes suddenly turned wide when I saw that it was from Coastal Scents. yey! It came in earlier than the date when I was expecting it to arrive. And best of all, I didnt have to go to the PO to claim it! Weeee! Such a happy day for me.

Saturday trip @ Landmark Makati

If there's one thing that I kinda don't like about my work, it's the fact that there will be times that we'll have to go to work on Saturdays. I mean, I LOVE my job, but it's the split restdays that makes me not want it on some level. But anyway, enough for my non sense rambling and on to my interesting blog entry. Before dragging myself to work last Saturday, I went to Landmark Makati to get myself some Goolai vegetable salad after meeting up with the buyer of my Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette. I got what I wanted. A very appetizing salad with one of my favorite dressings - cranberry vinaigrette.

I decided to dropby Landmark Department store to check out some makeup brushes. And look what I got! L&C Round Crease brushes! I've been craving for these brushes for the longest time and that's actually one of the reasons why I bought crease brushes off CoastalScents' website.

Pros:

L&C brushes are dirt cheap; these babies sell for only P39.75 a piece.
L&C brushes are available locally; No need for online purchases and drama sequences with the Post Office. LOL.
They are almost as good as other drugstore brand brushes.

Cons:

Since they're dirt cheap, they sell really fast. So once you've discovered that they're back in stock, boy, you need to do a lot of hoarding. Seriously.
These little devils are big time shedders. Yes, they shed really bad during washing, that's why you need to purchase plenty of them. Make sure you also have something to de-clog your sink with after washing these babies. Teehee.

So there. After my purchase, I trekked down to my office. And since Ayala Avenue was closed to traffic last Saturday, I had to walk from Landmark to Paseo de Roxas and I arrived late.. again. Sheesh.

The word Goodbye... Why is it so hard to say it out loud?

If you're one of those who read my recent posts on GT, then you'll have an idea on who I'm referring to at this point.

I'm referring to my baby, my Coastal Scents Pink Kabuki brush. I lost her during our Christmas party at A.Venue on Makati Avenue last December 13, 2008. I guess it fell out of my glittery, metallic pink pouch. I brought her with me because it matches the color of my pouch. I only realized that she was missing when I washed my brushes on Sunday morning. So tragic and sad...

I will definitely get a replacement for her, but not now.

Waxing: Is it worth the pain?

Okay, so I was searching thru Ebay.ph when I came across this product called Strip It All Natural Ready to Use Cold Hair Wax Remover (whew, that was a mouthful!). It caught my attention because of two things: One,because it's made out of natural ingredients, and two, because it's a bit cheaper compared to Epillin, which is locally available at Watsons and other drugstore outlets. I have been reading bits of info on waxing at GT and on the Internet and since then I became very interested with it because I was into shaving from the day I found out on what a razor can do. So I purchased the 150g trial tub of the said product and tried it on my underarms and on the hair growing on top of my fingers. Here is what I can say about it.

Pros:

It's cold wax, therefore, there's no heating required, unlike Epillin.

It comes with a spatula and cloth strips that you could use to put on wax and to take out hair from wherever you wanna remove it.

It takes out hair just as good as Epillin would.

It is made out of natural ingredients, hence there are less chances of getting skin irritations after.

It only costs Php 160.00 (approx $3.34) for a 150g tub which will last you for quite a long period of time, if will be used on small areas.

Cons:

It is not available at drugstores like Watsons or Mercury Drug. I purchased mine at Ebay, and I think you could see this being sold at Bazaars only.

Since it's made out of honey and brown sugar, it attracts ants, so be careful with storage.

If you're a newbie with waxing (just like me), it may take some time before you get used to the pain of pulling hair from within. So taking an Advil or any brand of Mefenamic Acid 30 to 45mins before waxing may be a very important tool for you, especially if you have a very low threshold for pain.

To live up to the Christmas spirit, we decided to have an exchange of gifts amongst ourselves (the officers of the Company) and to spice things up, we decided to post a wishlist. For me, I decided to ask for a Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara in Black. I have seen reviews on it on YouTube and I decided that it'll be a very nice gift for Christmas. It turned out that it was my boss who got my name and on December 31st, just before I left for our New Year break, this is what I got from him..

Will I purchase one for myself once it's all used up? Definitely, this is one of the best mascaras that I have tried in my entire life! It definitely gave volume and length to my forever dull lashes. ^_^

Yeah, I know. Im guilty and Im really sorry for not being able to put up something for the past couple of weeks or so. Aside from the tons of workload that I have to deal with, I lost Internet connection at home which made me computer illiterate during those days,lol (blame PLDT for cutting down wires by mistake near our place approximately 3 days before Christmas...grrr). Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays with their loved ones and dear friends. I did make the most out of it with my family and some of my friends and officemates. I did shop around for some stuff during the holidays and got some gifts as well. I'll post the pics once I get hold of my flash disk (which I let my officemate borrow so he could give me copies of pics during our teambuilding cum team drinking, hehehe. I'll be posting pics of my recent purchases soon, but for now...

Sorry, Ive been really busy for the past couple of weeks.. Anyway, I got my brushes from Coastal Scents and Im so pleased with my purchase. I got the Pink blending brush, Deluxe Shadow Brush (they sent this in error, should be the Oval fluff shadow brush, pink crease brush, pink taklon liner brush, italian badger crease brush, chisel angled fluff brushm and the chisel detail mini brush. This is what I wrote on GirlTalk about these brushes:

My thoughts on CS eye brushes...

with my CS order, I got the Pink Deluxe Oval Shadow brush instead of the Pink Oval Fluff Shadow brush. I like it din,although I find it a bit big for my eyes. I think it'll be a good brush to put highlight color on the brow bone area.

The pink blending brush is really huge! Humongous is how I would call it! but it's really soft, and I think it'll blend colors really well din.

The Chisel Angle fluff shadow brush is a smaller replica of my e.l.f. defining eye brush. Same thickness, same hair used, same softness and density. great for applying colors on the outer V and crease area.

My favorites would be the pink crease brush (very dense yet uber soft), italian badger crease brush (love the handle, love the way it applies and blends colors on my crease), chisel detail mini brush (uber small, yet great for applying colors in the tearduct and waterline area), and the pink angle taklon liner brush (superb quality of its taklon bristles,great for gel liners).

I lost my pink kabuki brush last saturday. Still thinking if i'll buy a new one kasi I bought the kabuki mini brush from EDM thru the preorder. i love the pink handle pa naman.

On Cleaning my Make up Brushes

Yey! Finally it's Friday, which means I could go ahead and give my babies their long-awaited weekly bath. But then, I suddenly realized that I ran out of Babyflo Gold baby shampoo so I went to Shopwise Antipolo to replenish my stock. But alas! They dont have Babyflo on stock now, so what I got was this:

Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Honey

Oh well, I told myself that it won't hurt to try out something new so that I'd always have other options. So there, I washed them and there are 2 things tha I have noticed with Johnson's Baby shampoo:

1. It smells a lot better than Babyflo

2. It produces more suds with less product dispensed.

The brushes are drying out now. Hopefully, I'd get results as good as with Babyflo Gold baby shampoo. I took pictures of them (yes, I washed 15 brushes today, how cool is that?! :D) so that you'll have an idea of what could happen.

The face brushes are tied on an old hanger using old bra straps and
straw.

Eye brushes (Amiana, Sembem, CS, e.l.f., and from the Charm Travel Pro set)
are laid down on a towel sitting on a plate.
