Review: Avon Totally Kissable Lipsticks

Hello to everyone! Finally,it's weekend once again. Dont we just love weekends? It's the time of the week when we get to relax, unwind, spend time with our families, and the time when we get to do crazy things! ;) I know,in the 2???++ years of my existence I've done a lot of good, not so good, and insane things, but as long as we learn something from each experience,no one's stopping us,right? ;)

Anyway,on to the review. I got these lipsticks a month ago,and since I got myself 5 out of 10 shades of these babies,I needed ample time to test all of them. Whenever Avon goes on a cosmetics sale, their lipsticks go on a major price drop, and being the lipstick junkee that I am,I go gaga! I have full lips, and using a lipstick that gives great color payoff is the best way to go.

In buying a lipstick, there are 3 things that I always consider: Color Payoff, Moisturizing effect, and the Price Tag. I can let go of the price tag and color payoff at times, but not the moisture part. Who wants dry lips anyway? And this is what I love about these lipsticks: Wonderful color payoff, non drying, moisturizing and budget friendly (when bought during Avon sales).

Avon says:

Full-coverage conditioning color infused with fruit enzymes and a blend of natural oils for lips that are visibly fuller, softer and smoother.

Packaging. The packaging is very sleek,IMHO. For me,this is the best lipstick bullet packaging that Avon came up with. The only downside is that it's a finger print magnet. But it doesnt bother me that much.

Color payoff. Now,Im not the best in describing colors, but the pics should give you an idea on how they look like when applied. All colors that I picked out are opaque in 2 coats.

Racy Red: Deep sexy red.

Make Out Red : Pink red

Lacey Mauve: pinky mauve color. The perfect MLBB shade for me

Berry Smooch: Purple berry shade

Pink Wink (no face pic): Demure pink

Staying power. These lipsticks are NOT transfer or kiss proof. Without eating and drinking they last up to 5 hours, so if you eat or drink or kiss or all of the above (LOL!), reapplication is necessary.

Moisturizing factor. VERY moisturizing. This is probably why the staying power is on the so-so side. I grabbed a picture from Google which has the ingredients listed on there. Notice that the lipstick is super packed with oils and fruit extracts? These keep your lips from drying out! :)

Price. Regular SRP is P399 per tube, but I got these on sale for P999 for all 5 tubes.

Do I recommend them? Absolutely, but I highly suggest that you get them when they're on sale.

Where to buy? From Avon kiosks and dealers nationwide

So there we go. I hope this has been a very helpful post. What is your favorite color among the Totally Kissable line? Let me know by placing your comments on this post. :)

Review: KB Collagen Food Supplement Tablets

Happy Sunday! As promised, I'll be doing a review on the products that I have received from Yumei Mise, the official distributor of Kyusoku Bihaku (also known as KB) products here in the Philippines. A little over a month ago,I received a package from them containing several sachets of Rotenyu Meguri (sadly I wasnt able to test this out because I dont have a bath tub, directions stated to dissolve this into 200 liters of water, and I dont have a pail that can house that amount of water, sniff), and a bottle of their newest product which is the KB Collagen Food Supplement. I have used the product for 30 days, and here is what I think about it.

Collagen,as most of us know, is widely marketed and used in the food and cosmetic industry due to its age delaying effects. Please not that I have not used the term "anti aging",and this is because aging is a process that everyone goes thru! But nevertheless, this magic component has been proven to address signs of aging such as dry, matured skin, brittle nails, lifeless hair, etc.,and has been the main ingredient of several age defying creams, lotions, and food supplements. Yumei Mise has been known as a big name in the skin whitening industry, and it's very exciting to know that they have created a product that us women (and men alike) can use to help us delay the dreadful effects of aging.

The product is housed in a plastic, yet sturdy bottle. The box states that each tablet has 200mg of fish peptide collagen, and some other ingredients such as Vit C,coQ10, and pearl powder. Each bottle has 30 tablets, and instructions state that this can be taken 2-3 times a day. In my case,I used this once a day with my multivitamins and 1000mg of vitamin C with rosehips (studies show that collagen, when taken with vitamin C,becomes more potent, thus enhancing its age delaying properties). The product does not have any distinct scent, and while taking this I have not experienced any allergies or breakouts, which is a very good thing.

I have oily combination skin on my face and dry skin on my arms and legs, and when I started taking this product,I have noticed that my skin produced a little bit more oil than the usual, but it also gave me this certain glow on my face. The skin on my face became I wouldnt call it as ethereal, but something was really different, that even hubby noticed it! The skin on my face became softer too. Nothing drastic on my arms and legs, they're still a bit dry,but I think with continuous use, this product would work its magic on them.

At 750 pesos, some may see this price as a little bit steep, but with the effects that you'll be getting,I think that it's totally worth it.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! This is a product worth trying, especially to those who are in their late 20s like me. Just make sure that you still dont skip on the essentials to make this more effective, like putting on sunblock, eating a balanced diet, and doing exercises regularly, getting enough sleep, etc.

KB Collagen Food S upplement is available in Mercury Drug and Watsons branches.

Another brand on the rise: Essence Cosmetics

Hello there! During one of my trips to SM Megamall,I spotted this new stall at Watsons, and I was definitely pleased with what I saw. Essence,a German (?) brand, has finally hit Philippine shores. Ive come to know them thru my officemate, who swears that their eyebrow styling set is worth checking out. Being the eyebrow freak that I am,I got excited, making a note to myself that should I see it on stock,I'll get one for myself. I have not read a lot of reviews about their products,so I only picked out 2 items, their XXXL shine gel look top coat and their eyebrow stylist set. I'll be doing separate reviews in the upcoming months, but for now, enjoy the pictures! :)

What can you say about Essence products? Are they worth our hard-earned money? Let me know your thoughts! :)

Review: Wet n Wild Ultimate Eyebrow Kit (picture heavy)

Ive come to realize that one thing that I cant live without is eyebrow makeup. I always had bushy eyebrows,so I make sure that I always have them groomed once in a while, but nevertheless,Id still rely on eyebrow kits to "lock" them in place.

I have tried brands like In2it and ELF,and while Im quite satisfied on how they performed,I still cant steer away from trying out new brands. Then I came across Wet N Wild. And Im glad that I did. Is it HG material? Read on.

Note: Pictures were taken using my Note 2's Camera 360 app.

Wet N Wild's Ultimate Eyebrow Kit has received exceptional ratings from MakeUp Alley's members and makeup gurus. The eyebrow kit comes with 2 pans of eyebrow powder, 1 pan of setting wax, 1 pair of tweezers (which is kinda useless), 1 mini slanted brush, and a pull out mirror (which was neglected,LOL).

I got this from Watsons for Php 399,but you may also grab these from Ebay.ph and Natasha dealers. I got mine in the shade of Ash Brown. (and I already hit pan, yey!)

As you can see,the eyebrow powders are VERY pigmented. The swatches shown are very light swatches,so a light hand is necessary while using these. The setting wax comes after the application of the powder, and this is because the wax helps in sealing the product, and it makes the application look very precise and neat. The best part is that when used with the setting wax,it becomes waterproof. Another yey for that! One thing to note though is that this cannot withstand very humid weather conditions,so you may experience some fading in the long run.

Is this HG material? Probably, but what I kinda hate about it is that the tweezers are pretty useless since it's so tiny, and the fact that Watsons jacked up the price on this. But I love this product, and will definitely repurchase (but not from Watsons,LOL).

How about you? What's your top eyebrow product? Let me hear your input! :)

HBC's San San eyeliner: What I love about it

Hello there! Just wanna share with you my latest favorite amongst my eye products. It's the San San eyeliner pen. This product created a buzz in the blogosphere,so when I saw that it's available at an HBC store near my place,I grabbed 2 of them and decided to put them into test.

Initially,I wasnt a big fan of pen eyeliners. I tried numerous brands,ELF and Maybelline to name a few, but all of them are either not that pigmented or it's too wet that it creased even when worn over a primer. But this product changed my perception.

After trying out this product,Im a convert! I wore this for 10 straight hours over my favorite Etude House Proof 10 eyeshadow primer, and the product never transferred onto my lids! Sure there was slight fading on the sides, but that's very acceptable already. I no longer have to worry about looking like a panda or  a raccoon at the end of the day.

I would highly recommend this product to those who wants an effective eyeliner that wont break your bank. This is one item that I would never get tired of.

The San San eyeliner is available in all HBC outlest nationwide for Php 85.

Thrifty Moments: Depotting my Etude House Proof 10 Eyeshadow Primer

We all love buying new stuff for ourselves. Whether it's a new gadget, new clothes, shoes and cosmetics, it's what makes us girls happy and giddy. However,it is also good if we can have all of those items mentioned, while saving a few bucks on the side. This is where the thrifty side of me comes in.

I have read articles on the blogosphere on how some gurus depotted their UD primer potion when it was still housed in its cute but non-practical,genie-type bottle. I have not owned UDPP in the past, however,if in case you've heard of Etude House's Proof 10 eyeshadow primer, this baby is also housed in a very similar container -- plastic bottle, narrow neck, wide body, and a straight, non flexible doe foot applicator. I have posted a picture for your reference.

In a nutshell, it's as troublesome as UDPP's old packaging. However, there's no need to fret, because if they depot UDPP, we can definitely do the same for this fellow. All you need are the following:

- Your Etude House e/s primer

- Razor sharp office cutter

- a container (preferably one made out of frosted glass; otherwise, an airtight cream jar or pot made out of plastic would do)

How to do it:

- Make a small puncture on the bottle using your cutter. This is your starting point.

- Cut through the bottle thru the puncture that you just made using the same cutter. BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS. You dont want your fingers getting cut off in the process. Continue until you've reached halfway of the bottle. Then, pull both sides apart.

- From this you'll see how much product's left. Scoop out as much as you could using your doe foot applicator.

- Transfer the contents into your jar. Seal and store.

And there you have it. You've just entended the life of your eyeshadow primer. Just make sure that you use clean fingers when using the product directly from the pot to prevent contamination. Also, keep the container tightly closed at all times to prevent your precious primer from drying out.

Hope this helps! Thanks for reading! ♥♥♥

NOTD: Wet N Wild Nail Polish in Wet Cement

Whoa,it's been like ages since I last updated this blog. I feel like a newbie again. Hehe! What's up with you guys? As for me,I've been focused on work, work and more work lately. O_o But I havent forgotten this blog, actually. Ive been meaning to update this for the longest time,but... anyway, enough of my lame excuses.. on to the blog post. :-p

I bought this gorgeous nail polish from a Facebook seller, Polished IntheCity, for P200 plus shipping. She sells different brands of NP,from the colorful China Glaze,OPI,Zoya,up to the priciest Chanel. Before I even got this,I have already read mixed reviews about this brand, which fired up my curiosity even more,so I told myself that Id have to get this and test it for myself. So when it became finally available,I bought it and had it shipped. And Im glad that I decided to jump into the bandwagon. :)

The bottle is very elegant and expensive looking. The brush is...well,huge. It covers my nail with the easiest strokes (I had a nail tech apply this on me,and I can tell that she really enjoyed the brush),and it is totally opaque in two coats. The color is a taupey shade, that somewhat leans into the grayish side as well. Im not sure, but I think it comes with a cool undertone to it (feel free to correct me if Im wrong). It's a very office friendly shade, and if I were to pick something that Id be willing to wear on my nails on a daily basis,Id pick this in a heartbeat.

Wear time for me is so-so. The polish chipped on my right index and thumb after two days (I sandwiched this using my fave base and top coats),but the rest of the fingers and those on my left hand had very minimal tip wear on the 5th day (must be me digging thru my stuff that caused the chipping).

Overall,Id give this polish a 4 out of 5. A very preppy color for those who would want to paint their nails, but would not want to go overboard.

Wet N Wild is also available in Watsons located in SM Malls.

NOTD: Corporate Purple by The Face Shop

This,by far,is one of those colors that I would want to wear on a daily basis. Simple, yet striking. Work appropriate. This is The Face Shop's Face It nail polish in PP402. It's pretty long lasting too,I think it took me 5 days before it started to chip on me. Highly recommended.

Base coat: The Face Shop Face it nail base coat

Top coat: The Face Shop Lovely Me Ex top coat and Seche Vite dry fast top coat

What do you have on your nails today?

Review: Wet n Wild ColorIcon Blusher in Berry Shimmer

Note: All pictures were taken indoors, without flash using my Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

If there's one word to describe this blush,it would be LOVE. Ive had this blush for about 2-3 weeks now,and Id say that Im mighty impressed with it. The packaging could have been a little bit better, but the product itself bailed out the former in terms of pigmentation and lasting power.

Packaging: The product is encased in a cheap black plastic container with a clear lid,and the logoWet n Wild is printed on it. But as the 1st picture suggests,it came off rather quickly. It also comes with a brush which is quite scratchy,so if you're the sensitive skin type, stay away from the brush.

Pigmentation: This blush is VERY,VERY pigmented. Id say that this blush comes off as golden coral. The 3rd picture depicts a very light swatch, so you have to use this with a very light hand. A little comes a long, long way,so I think that even if used on a daily basis, this baby would last for a very long time.

Lasting power: I have combination skin (oily on the t-zone area, dry on the cheek area),and this lasted on me for a good amount of time. I applied it at around 8pm,went to work, and when I came home at around 10am the following day,I still had a slight hue going on my face. However, results may vary, especially if you are the really oily type of gal.

Would I recommend and/or repurchase: a big YES :)

Hope this helps.

NOTD: China Glaze in Phat Santa

Hello readers! V-day is fast approaching and here I am,dateless. Hahaha! Just kidding. I have featured a nail color that might give you an idea on what to don should you have an intimate date on the 14th,or if you just want to feel extra sexy at all times. ;)

I have an obsession on red nail polish, for me it's a must have color on every nail polish stash. One can never go wrong with red nail polish since it suits almost all skintones, and IMO it exudes elegance, sophistication and intimacy. :D

And here it is! China Glaze Phat Santa is from their Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice collection. It's a cherry red nail color which can be used on both tips and toes. The formula is superb; only two coats are needed to achieve opacity. To top it all,the color gives off a very glossy finish even without top coat (although I dont recommend skipping your top coat).

Photos were taken using my Samsung Galaxy Note 2,with flash.

Base coat: The Face Shop Face It nail base coat

Top coat: The Face Shop Lovely me Ex top coat, followed by Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat

Prices are reasonable, and I'm giving this place 2 thumbs up!

Making your nail jobs last: Base and Top Coats and why we shouldn't skip them

From L-R: The Face Shop Face It base coat, Seche Vite dry fast top coat

Happy New Year! 2012 has been a so-so year for me *sniff* but Im setting that asise because Im looking forward to making my 2013 a whole lot better! :) Today I'll try to shed some light on some questions that Ive been getting for the past few weeks. This is something that I myself has not realized until last year when I started getting hooked with nail polish. When I finally came into my senses that these additional manicure steps are NOT to be skipped,I even asked myself why I took them for granted. Hopefully you'll be as enlightened as I am. :)

BASE COAT

Okay,I honestly didnt know anything about this when I got exposed to nail polish during my younger years. To me,nail polish is nail costume that normally comes off after 2-3days. But when I started reading horrific tales of yellowish nails,I started the quest of finding answers on how to avoid that. That is how I discovered the importance of a base coat. Not only does it make the life span of your mani/nail art longer,it also prevents stains from forming on your nails,be it the dreaded yellowish tinge,or the nasty colorants that some heavily tinted NPs would leave behind (eg, red, blue, black NPs). Now,are all base coats the same? I would say No. Some are just plain old base coats, while some are formulated with nail hardeners or vitamins. What should you get? It really depends, but as long as it does the job, then you're good.

Ive been a loyal user of The Face Shop's Face It nail base coat 03. It also helps in keeping my nails strong aside from the previously mentioned benefits of a base coat. I so love this stuff that Im on my 3rd bottle already. My only grip with this product is that halfway thru the bottle it gets gloopey, but nothing that cant be fixed with a few drops of nail polish thinner/solvent. This is priced at Php 180. There is another base coat that TFS offers (from the Lovely Me Ex line) which is cheaper than this base coat, but I havent tried that yet, hence I cant make any comparisons in terms of quality.

TOP COAT

Just like an artist,we would want to make our artwork last as long as possible, right? This is the concept behind a top coat. It locks and seals your nail color. It prevents premature chipping and gives that extra "oomph" to NPs with glossy finishes. Just like base coats, top coats were never created equally; you have to choose the one that would best suit your needs and lifestyle. Want that extra shine? Go for a high gloss one such as Sally Hansen's (Php 300+) or The Face Shop's (Php 95,from the Lovely Me Ex line); Cant wait for your manicure to dry since you have errands to do afterwards? Go for a fast drying top coat such as Caronia's or if you have some extra cash to burn, get Seche Vite dry fast top coat (Php 400 - 450,available thru online resellers only). I've been using Seche Vite for a few months now,and Im definitely impressed with the way it performs. It's like the Speedy Gonzales among all top coats,IMHO.

So there we go. I hope this has been very helpful and for additional questions, just send them in.

Happy Monday and Happy Martin Luther King's day to our US counterparts! :)
